Review of T.V Show ‘The Society’

Imagine you’re back in the dark ages, no utilities, no technology, and the worst part -no law.

The teens of Old Ham cut short their trip and return to their hometown, only to find it deserted and dark. Cassandra Pressman gathers a committee and takes it upon herself to restore order for the lot to survive. But the power that she wields follows through with grave conflict.

When I first began this show, I was very skeptical, expecting it to be just another shallow, teen drama with a poor script and a basic plot. But this show sure did exceed my expectations over from plot twists, character development, a good script and a thrilling story.

The one thing I loved about the characters was that they didn’t conform to the generic trend of good and evil. Everyone was simply just a character, different shades and tints of grey which added a realistic element to them. Every character is going through something different, every character is feeling something different and I can guarantee that you’ll relate to at least one character on a personal level.

Another underrated aspect to the show was the multi faced story. The problem with most shows for me is that they focus on one character’s storyline alone, and that, on a personal note, can bore me instantly. The Society is a web of multiple plots of numerous protagonists spinning together to form one great show. It has it all- a popular jock now reduced to a depressed drug addict, a pregnant teen determined to hide her secret and a young teen desperate to get away from her abusive partner with no one to turn to and a deaf and mute boy who finds love among all this chaos. The brilliantly written characters and their personal issues weaving into the bigger story really is the best asset of The Society.

I highly recommend this to fantasy and post-apocalyptic lovers!
